The disclaimer, in full
Preview is an AI approximation. Actual colour, scale and texture may vary.
That line appears beside every preview on this site. This page explains what sits behind it, so you can judge how much weight to put on what you see.
02
What a preview actually is
See-in-Room takes a photograph of a room — one of our templates, or one you supply — and renders the weave of a chosen set onto the floor area you mark out with the four corner handles. It applies the room's own light and a contact shadow so the result reads as a rug on a floor rather than a flat sticker.
It is a visualisation, not a photograph of your room with the rug in it.No measurement is taken from your photo. The tool does not know your room's dimensions, your ceiling height or the true angle of your camera. It renders where you tell it to.
Previews are composed in your browser and are not uploaded to us. That is a privacy property, described in the Privacy Policy.
03
What it is good at
Use a preview to answer questions of scale and composition. It is genuinely useful for:
- Whether an 8×10 swamps your room, or a 5×8 leaves the seating stranded;
- Whether a runner suits the length of your hallway;
- Where the rug edge should fall relative to your sofa or table;
- How a light field reads against a dark floor, or the reverse;
- Comparing two sets in the same room, back to back, before you commit.
Those are the decisions that cause most returns, and a preview genuinely helps with all of them.
04
Where it is unreliable
Be sceptical of a preview for anything below. These are real limitations, not legal throat-clearing:
- Exact colour.Your screen's calibration, brightness and colour profile all shift the result, and no two screens agree. Your room's daylight changes it again through the day.
- Exact scale. The rug is rendered where you place the handles. If your placement is off, the apparent size is off. It is not a measuring tool — measure your floor with a tape.
- Texture and pile depth. A flat render cannot convey how a 1.35 in shag feels underfoot, or how it will catch light in relief.
- Perspective on an unusual photo. A wide-angle phone lens, a tilted camera or a steeply angled shot will distort the render. A straight, eye-level photo works best.
- Batch variation. The weave shown is a representative sample of the set. Your actual rug will vary slightly in tone, as any natural fibre does.
- Occlusion. The render lays the weave over the area you mark. It does not understand that a table leg should sit on top of the rug, so furniture may not layer correctly.

If colour is the deciding factor
Order the Swatch Box. Eight real samples, in your own room, in your own light, for $12 — and the price comes off your next rug order.
We would rather sell you a $12 box first than have a $429 rug come back. If colour is what you are deciding on, no preview from us or anyone else should be the thing you trust.
06
A preview is not a guarantee or a contract term
A preview is not a specification, a warranty, or a promise about the finished product. The authoritative description of any set is the specification on its product page: size, material, pile height, construction and care. That is what you are buying, and that is what we stand behind.
A difference between a preview and your delivered rug is not, by itself, a fault. It is covered by the ordinary 30-day change-of-mind return — 60 days on a membership — under the Returns & Refund Policy, on the same terms as any other return.
What is a fault: a genuine defect, transit damage, or the wrong set arriving. We cover those in full, including shipping both ways.
07
Using the tool responsibly
Upload only photographs you have the right to use — your own home, or a room you have permission to photograph. The full rules are in the Acceptable Use policy.
You may keep and share previews you generate for your own personal, non-commercial use. Do not present a preview as a photograph of a real finished room — in a property listing, a rental advertisement or a client sign-off — because it is not one, and doing so misleads whoever is looking at it.
The tool is free and provided as is. We may change or withdraw it. Questions: support@loncarsol.shop.
